How we handle the information you give us, and what your rights are.
APF Pest Control (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us — name, phone number, email address and property address — when you request a quote, submit an enquiry form or use the live chat.
- Details of your enquiry, including the pest problem you describe and any answers you give in the Pest Check tool.
- Technical data such as your browser type, device and approximate location, collected automatically by our hosting provider in standard server logs.
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry, provide a quotation and arrange an appointment.
- To carry out the pest control work you have asked us to do, and keep the treatment records we are required to keep.
- To keep our website secure and working properly.
Our lawful basis is normally the performance of a contract with you, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services. We do not send marketing email unless you have specifically asked us to.
The Pest Check tool
The Pest Check assessment runs in your browser. The answers you select are only sent to us if you choose to submit your contact details at the end in order to request a quote or callback. The result it produces is a guide only and is not a substitute for a site survey.
Live chat
Messages you send through the live chat widget are processed so that we can answer your question. If you provide contact details in chat so that we can call you back, those details are stored with your enquiry. Please don’t send payment details or other sensitive information through chat.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business — for example our website host and email provider — and only to the extent needed. Where a bee swarm is being rehomed we may pass your address to a local beekeeper, with your agreement.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted within 12 months. Records of completed work, including treatment records, are kept for six years to meet our legal, insurance and industry record-keeping obligations.
Cookies
This site uses only the cookies and local storage needed to make it work — for example remembering that you have closed the chat window. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your rights
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete data we no longer need to keep.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
